During 1937-38, the Australian surface printed KGV & Roo were being replaced by the rotary recess Zoologicals. For some reason never explained, the 2/- Kangaroo continued on issue, and no move was made to replace it. It was still being printed in 1945 with the plates showing considerable wear. In that year however, rotary electros were prepared from a new die (Die3). This was necessary if only because practically all equipment previously used in connection with surface printing had been removed from the printing office. While this new McCracken Die3 2/- Roo rightfully belongs in the Kangaroo series, it is a roo In appearance only. It bears no similarity, in production to its cousins. The ultimate curved electro layout was identical to the original roo series. Namely 240 impressions in four panes of 60.
five printings 8m4 The final printing in Jan 47 of 3m6 had a stamp size 25mm central vertical gutter rather than 14mm to account for comb perforator. the only way sense can be made of this comment is that the electros must have been re-positioned on the cylinder by authority imprints in lowerleft corners each pane making two types of above
