KGV PROGRESSION. THE VALUES AND THEIR COLOURS

The original intention was to replace ALL of the roo series. As postal rates changed, steps were taken at those times to replace the equivalent roo, if it existed, and, if the quantities required, justified the making of new plates. This intention never got further than the 5d. The public dislike of the roo series had long since gone. It was now simply a question of using readily available Kgv dies, to produce new plates. Had the roo die been in any fit state, new Roos would equally have appeared as indeed one did, much later, the McCracken 2/- Die3 (produced in an entirely different manner).

The following table defines the various progressions of the KGV series, and their reason for issue.
